I recently got my hands on the WN2000RPT which is a Universal Wi-Fi Range extender. Basically it locates a Wi-Fi Signal and extends it. I personally used it in my home to boost the Wi-Fi signal to the huge dead spot I had in my bedroom and it worked.
It was really easy to set up, I connected my notebook to it, accessed it like I would a router via the web browser and it located multiple Wi-Fi networks. Mines my neighbors and even the hotels down the block.
