At the Nintendo Fall Press Conference, Nintendo announced the all “new” Nintendo DSi. Nintendo has opted to remove the GBA slot which in turn makes it thinner than the original DS. It also, oddly, sports a 0.3 megapixel camera as well as a SD slot to save the pictures to. The DSi will feature a built in browser which supports their new download service. Users will be able to download DSiWare from the new DSi Shop. Looks like the shop will include free games as well as games priced at 200, 500 and 800 points. New customers will get 1000 points with the purchase of a DSi. The DSi will be released in Japan on November for ¥18,900 or $180. No other territories have been announced.

Pandemic Studios have been working on this title for a long time now. I finally got some hands on time with the Xbox 360 version of the game and I am happy to say it left me very satisfied. Check out the full preview with screenshots after the jump.
Today EA announced that they will publish a new horror game by Grasshopper Manufacture. For those of you who don’t know, they are the minds behind Killer 7 and No More Heroes. If anyone is worried about this partnership, don’t. The game will be directed by none other than Suda51 and be produced by the infamous Shinji Mikami, the creator of Resident Evil. The new title will be an action-horror game and it is slated to be released on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii and PC.
In addition to the Grasshopper Manufacture announcement, a partnership with Epic Games was also announced. The new title will be an an entirely new intellectual property and be developed by People Can Fly, the developers behind the Painkiller game. The only detail released about this game is that it’s going to be an action game that will be released for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC.
SCEA, on the official blog, has confirmed that firmware version 2.4 will include the much requested in-game XMB and trophy system. It will be available to all PS3 owners on July 2nd. Personally I’m very excited to get my hands on this epic update. It has been a long time coming but it is finally here. Unfortunately not all games will be compatible from the start. A lot of games will need to be patched in order to take advantage of this firmware. Regardless of the fact, it is a step in the right direction.

It seems that Microsoft has requested Pegatron Technology to manufacture Blu-ray players for the Xbox 360. This, despite the fact that Microsoft on numerous occasions has downplayed such a possibility. This report comes from Economic Daily News, a Taiwanese newspaper. It goes onto say that Blu-ray enabled console will ship before years end. Of course this isn’t the first time we have heard such a rumor so take it with a grain of salt. Personally I would still consider this a rumor. Wasn’t it Microsoft that said the 360 is about giving the consumer a choice? Why would they suddenly decide to further split their user base by providing yet another SKU. Regardless, it will be interesting to see what happens in the coming months.
As most of you know with a pre-order of Metal Gear Solid 4, everyone should get a chance to to play in the Metal Gear Online Beta. It was originally planned to be released on April 21st. Well according to Konami, “due to extraordinary levels of traffic from all around the globe” the beta has to be delayed while they get things up and running.
Start date: Planned for 04/25/2008 24:00(PDT). While the start is planned for the weekend, it may change due to unforseen circumstances.
So not only does it not start when it was supposed to, the new date might not even be set in stone. What the hell is Konami doing? The game is a little over a month away from release and they can’t anticipate server overload. Ridiculous!
Judas Priest’s Screaming For Vengeance will be the first album released for Rock Band. It will be released Aprill 22nd for the Xbox 360 and PS3 owners will get it April 24th. The album will include 10 tracks and will be priced at $14.99 or can be purchased individually for $1.99. I doubt I’d ever buy a whole album considering how expensive it is, but I’m glad that Harmonix is finally fulfilling a promise they made when Rock Band was first announced.
So is $14.99 the new standard album price?
It’s not a standard. There’s not going to be a standard album pricing. It’s going to be a function of how many songs are included in the album…essentially there will be a volume discount applied.

According to CVG, Sony Studio Liverpool is working on a portable version of Little Big Planet. Whether it’s going to be the exact same game or not has not been stated. Personally, I would love to see them have the level editor available so when your on the go you’ll be able to create a level and then when you get home you can send it to your PS3. Be warned this is a rumor, so take it with a grain of salt.
The fact that the Playstation Store could use an interface overhaul is nothing new. Personally it wasn’t a huge issue for me, but many complained the store was setup like a website. Well folks, Sony has been listening and I think you will like the new look.
