Today I got to play with the new Toshiba Thrive 7 which will be available at the start of December.
The Thrive 7 is a android based tablet with a 7inch HD Screen, and just like it’s big brother the Thrive it will feature loads of ports that most tablets lack all be it in mini or micro size. (Mini USB and HDMI and microSD)
The Thrive 7 will have a 2MP forward facing camera and a back facing 5 MP camera. It is about half an inch thick and light weight. It had the same look and feel as the Thrive.
Radiris Diaz and I attended the Galaxy Tab 8.9 event today at the Samsung Experience located in the Time Warner Center in New York City.
At the event executives and product managers showed off Samsungs new line of Galaxy devices, from the Tab 8.9 to the Player 4.0 and 5.0. (Players are similar to iPod Touch devices).
Check out a video of Radiriz unboxing the device.
“VIA has built up an extensive IP portfolio consisting of over 5,000 patents as a result of significant investments in world class technology research and development,” commented Wenchi Chen, CEO, VIA Technologies, Inc. “We are determined to protect our interests and the interests of our stockholders when our patents are infringed upon.”
VIA today announced it has filed a patent infringement lawsuit against Apple claiming they have violated three of their patents.
The patents in question are US Patent No. 6253312, Method and apparatus for double operand load, US Patent No. 6253311 & 6754810, Instruction set for bi-directional conversion and transfer of integer and floating point data.
It will be interesting to see how this turns out.
Today WD announced two new drives for the Mac, the My Passport Studio and the My Passport for Mac.
All I can say is wow…why aren’t WD drives designed for the PC as stylish as the mac versions? I’ll tell you why because from what I am told Apple works closely with OEMs to deliver stylish products that compliment their systems. The drives have an all metal design, and the performance every mac power user needs.
I am a huge fan of Pantech, really huge fan. They make some of the coolest quick messaging phones on the market and they always blow me away with the price tag they attach to them.
Pantech in my opinion makes quality phones with out the hefty price tag, and I have never had any issues with any of their devices. Some have lasted longer than my iPhones and other smartphones. So don’t knock Pantech just because of their low priced phones.
I recently had the pleasure of playing with two Pantech Quick Messaging phones and a flip phone all of them for the at&t network. I have to say if I couldn’t afford my iPhone I would definitely use anyone of these devices as my primary device. Their android powered phone the Crossover for example is just as powerful as some phones priced $199 or higher.
Samsung today announced that it’s Series 5 Chrome book powered by the Google OS is now available at TigerDirect.com. The Chrombook was designed for people who purely love the internet and want a 100% cloud experience, because once your offline you’re pretty much out of work.
“We are excited about broadening the availability of this great product, which offers on-the-go consumers Samsung’s design and engineering expertise combined with Google’s simple, secure Chrome operating system with Tiger Direct,” said Scott Ledterman, director of mobile PC marketing at Samsung Enterprise Business Division.
I joined the G+ Bandwagon when it first opened and you needed an invite, few weeks later I was bored of it and so were a bunch of my friends, and we crawled back on all fours to Facebook.
Today Google has announced that Google + is available to everyone, and quite honest I don’t really care but incase you do and you haven’t been invited already head over go Plus.Google.com to sign up.
Today Logitech unveiled the Harmony Link, a device that will turn your iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad or your android powered device into a Harmony Remote. The device is pretty much an IR blaster that communicates with your iOS or Android powered device via your wireless network and sends the commands from those devices to your television or any other device you may have such as Blu-Ray player, Xbox 360 etc.
I was able to check out the Link a few months ago at a event here in NYC, and it was a pretty cool device, and it worked flawlessly with the iPad and android smartphone I tested it on.
Radiris Diaz from CuteGeek.com and I attended the launch party for the much-anticipated Gears of War 3 at the best buy theater in New York City’s Times Square.
The line of fans waiting for the game went around an entire city block as Best Buy and Microsoft gave away prizes and gifts to those who were in line. Some were even given upgrades to the front of the line, so they could be one of the first to buy the game and others were given bags with the Gears of War 3 logo on them.
I will be attending the Gears of War 3 Launch party tonight with Radiris Diaz from CuteGeek.com and we both plan to live tweet the event. We probably won’t stay for the entire party but enough to get all the cool info you probably want to hear about.
