Pantech Laser for at&t

I am a huge Pantech fan, they in my opinion make some of the greatest phones around. They tend to be stylish, multi-function do everything you’d want your phones. But what is also unique about Pantech devices is they are affordable. Who else will sell you a touch screen device with a QWERTY keyboard for $99?

The Pantech Laser is no different; it is one of the coolest looking quick messaging phones available on at&t and if it isn’t the most affordable it definitely is in the top 3.

When I got my hands on the laser the first thing I did was use it to take some pictures. I had powered it up without even putting a sim card in because I really needed a camera and the Samsung point and shoot I normally use had a dead battery, oh and my iPhone I had no idea where I had placed it. So I take the Pantech power it up and use it to take some pictures of my friend’s daughter who was taking her first steps. I would share them but her mom asked that I didn’t and then some video of her crying after she fell. It was either drop the phone or let her fall. A kids got to learn one way or another right?

AOC e2243FW AireLED Monitor

Last month I was able to get my hands on the razor thin e2243FW monitor from AOC and I have to say I am pretty impressed with it. It is a stylish, sleek looking 22 inch LED Monitor with the price point of a traditional LCD of its size, actually come to think of it, most LCD’s at this size cost more.

The e2243FW is a beautiful monitor that I think mac users will love because of its white color, it sort of looks like something apple would make but didn’t.  Definitely way more affordable than anything apple would make. The monitor is also razor thing, it’s thinner than a number 2 pencil.

Seagate BlackArmor NAS FW Update

Seagate released new firmware for their BlackArmor NAS product and I have to say the new features are pretty impressive especially if you are a Mac owner.

The update which was released last week Tuesday delivered Time Machine Support, and iTunes server 10.x compatibility. The Time Machine Feature which I was able to try out on my Mac Mini worked great. A lot easier to set up with the BlackArmor that it was with my HP MediaSmart Server.

The iTunes server 10.x compatility worked great with both iTunes 10x on Macs and Windows, iTunes found the BlackArmor NAS and listed it. Streaming has never been easier. I have other NAS devices with iTunes server support and sometimes they are a pain in the ass to get listed in iTunes.

Review: LIteON iHAS524

Recently I got my hands on the new LiteON iHAS524 24x Internal DVD/CD Writer with LabelTag. Lable Tag is a technology that allows you to label your disc on the writeable side of the disc with no special media required.

I thought bull crap, they say no special media but no way it works as advertised. So I quickly installed the drive which as I already said an internal drive that connects via a Serial ATA port. Once the drive was installed took about 5 minutes I fired up the PC installed the included software and started to burn every piece of music I had onto a blank CD.

AMD Radeon HD 6870 and 6850

Back in October AMD announced the AMD Radeon HD 6870 and 6850 and while I wanted to bring you a review sooner rather than later, however I had the cards for such a short period of time I didn’t think it would be fare for me to rush the review as I felt I couldn’t deliver an honest opinion on how the cards performed. But now I feel comfortable.

Last year, AMD introduced the Radeon HD 5800 series, the first DirectX11 cards on the market, which helped them become the leaders in gaming. After having attained that lead, with most users satisfied with the 5800 series, ATI is rushing out to shore up the midrange, with the introduction of two new cards, the ATI RADEON HD 6850 and RADEON HD 6870 GPUs, again optimized for DirectX 11 gaming.

We were able to lay our hands on reference units of these two cards.

Hulu Plus Launches Officially Today

Hulu Plus today has officially launched and not for the $9.99 a month preview price but for $7.99 a month. Current Hulu Plus subscribers will see a $2 credit for each month they paid $9.99. Hulu has also launched a referral program http://hulu.com/r/QDhTSg (referral link) where you can earn 2 weeks of free hulu plus service for each friend you refer.

The $7.99 a month price tag in my opinion will make Hulu more appealing. However some will dislike the service because even though you are paying you still see 5 second – 45 second ads. However if you think of it the way I do, you spend just as much time trying to fast forward and rewind when you record something on your DVR.

Will Hulu plus be a success? Who knows but the $7.99 a month price tag gives it a better chance.

Scooba from iRobot

I have been a huge fan of iRobot ever since I got my hands on my Roomba. I personally think it’s the bachelor’s perfect companion. You give it a name (Roomberta in my case) you tell her what to do and with no questions asked she does it. She’ll just ask you empty her tank and clean her brushes every now and then but that’s 10 minutes of work a week.

Recently on woot.com my new favorite shopping site they had the Scooba 300 on sale for an unbeatable price. The Scooba which I named Scooberto like the Roomba cleans your floor but the difference is the scooba mops while the Roomba swept.
