Toshiba use to be known for plain bulky systems that offered you a lot of power and no style. However over the past two years I have seen a trend at Toshiba, where they are more style focused and are now designing more and more stylish systems and quite honestly raising the bar.
The Satellite T235 is a perfect example of this trend at Toshiba. No PC maker that I can think of is delivering such a stylish product at an affordable price point ($630). Toshiba has done a magnificent job with the T235 as it’s beautiful and powerful. Available in three colors Gemini Black, Red and White the T235 has a etched metallic interior that Toshiba calls its Fusion Chrome finish.
It’s been a year and a few months since HP announced the very first ProBook back in April 2009 and it has quickly become one of the best business notebooks on the market. Honestly I think it is also one of the best Notebooks for consumers as well and I think its lame that HP gears it towards its business customers. HP’s business team has brought style to business, and their consumer team should pay attention.
The ProBook 4720s is a beautiful beast, with its huge 17.3 inch widescreen display and powerful Intel Core i5 (M430 2.27 GHz) processor. The system comes with 4 GB of memory and an ATI Radeon Graphics Card. It is the most beautiful system I have played with recently and one of the most powerful.
When I first opened up the 4720s I had to take a moment and admire it. Who knew simple could be so beautiful. Everyone I show the 4720s too or any other ProBook for that matter comment on how stylish they are.
It’s always a good idea to keep important information on your person in the event of an emergency, especially when you travel. You never know what may happen and a third party may need this information to properly treat you medically. You never know when you’ll be in an accident.
I never really gave too much thought about having this information on me at all times until I was introduced to a product called Travel Stix. Travel Stix is a 2GB creditcard sized USB stick that allows you to store your important information on it and is both PC and Mac Compatible.
I am a huge fan of HP Notebooks and every now and then I get super excited about a new HP system. Normally it’s the high end super expensive system but this year it’s the Pavilion DV6. Why? I think it’s its simplicity.
The HP Pavilion dv6 is powered by an AMD Phenom II P920 Quad-Core Processor, 3GB of Memory a 500 GB HDD and a ATI HD 5650 Graphics card that delivers beautiful graphics to the 15.6” widescreen display.
The first thing I noticed about the dv6z was even though it is not the top of the line notebook as an Envy 15, it looked just as good. The external paint job is one of the coolest I have seen, and the black cherry champagne finish is nice as well. (I have no idea who came up with that color name but they obviously have too much time on their hands)
Roxio recently released Creator 2011 which makes it easy for everyone to create 3D content in their home on the cheap.
I have had a few days to play with Roxio Creator 2011 and man I have had a lot of fun, turning regular old pictures into 3D masterpieces in a few simple steps.
You can convert your current 2D images and video files or record video or snap pictures form within the program, and then you can easily convert them once you figure out how to work the program. I did have to play around with the settings before I completely understood it all. But once I learned the ins and outs it was a breeze.
Today TeleNav launched its popular blackberry app OnMyWay for the iPhone and Android devices. OnMyWay is a cool app that works with your GPS program. What it does is auto replies to text messages and even automatically sends text messages to the person you are meeting up with that you are on your way, how far you are and when to expect you.
The iPhone app is available now on the iTunes store but I haven’t seen it on the Android Market Place just yet (2am this post goes live at 8am). I was able to check out a demo back in January in San Francisco and was pretty impressed. Since then I have tested out similar apps like DriveSafe.ly and non of them can compete with OnMyWay.
The Samsung Epic 4G will be available the 1st of September for $249 with a 2 year contract from Sprint. Check out my video below for my thoughts.
Today Western Digital took another step out of the storage realm and into the networking world with their new LiveWire Powerline AV Networking kit (HomePlug AV). The kit allows you to bring your entertainment equipment to the web provided they have an Ethernet port.
What exactly is LiveWire? Well it basically allows you to connect your BluRay player, Television and even TiVo to your home network and the internet using your electrical wires. No need to configure a wireless network and or wire your home with cat5 cable.
Check out the unboxing video below and check back in a week or two for our review on both,
