Battlefield Heroes trailer released

The first trailer for Battlefield Heroes, an upcoming game by DICE and EA, was released today.  DICE and EA, known for their highly successful Battlefield series of games, are trying something new with this installment of the franchise.  It was previously announced that this PC cartoon-style shooter will be available to download and play free of charge under EA’s new “Play 4 Free” model, a new strategy that EA is trying where games will be free, but will contain advertisements and optional micropayments.  Battlefield Heroes will be available for download in summer of 2008.

Jobs giveth then taketh away

The details of the iPhone SDK are leaking out. Most of which I anticipated in my previous entry but the zinger is Apple apparently closing the dock port to developers. No hardware GPS add-ons for you ! No FM receivers for you !  Peripherals of any kind are dead to you. Apples heavy handed tactics should not be a surprise but once again I’m reminded of a classic Seinfeld episode . . . “ The Soup Nazi “

Review: HP Blackbird 002

Amazing! That is the one word that describes the Blackbird 002 from HP. It has an amazing design and amazing power. It simply is amazing, and reviews across the web, not just this one, prove how amazing it is.

When I first saw the Blackbird 002 on its announcement date on September 5th 2007, it was the highlight of the show, regardless to the fact that Serena Williams, The Tuttles from American Chopper, Sean White, and some rather hot supermodel whose name I can’t recall were all present. No one cared about anything except for the monster of a machine HP had behind a black curtain.

Video Game Remix: Megaman Edition

Hey, everybody!  It’s amazing what people are able to do with old sprites these days, moving beyond the static images of sprite comics and into some simply amazing animations.  In tribute to both the talents of these innovative creators and the characters around whom their productions are designed, I’m going to try and regularly post clips featuring video game characters in different and interesting ways.  First up, that classic blue humanoid robot, Rockman/Megaman!

Microsoft Drops Price on Windows Vista

Microsoft today announced it will be reducing the price on several Stand-Alone versions of Windows Vista. In the announcement Microsoft says that even though sales for Windows Vista have been solid they will be dropping the price of the operating system sold in retail stores.

“Windows Vista has been on the market for more than a year now, with more than 100 million licenses sold in its first year. While this is great progress, we see an opportunity to grow our business even more with some of the new editions we introduced with Windows Vista. Today, the vast majority of Windows licenses are sold with PCs; retail stand-alone sales, in contrast, have been primarily from customers who value being early adopters and those building their own machines. We’ve observed market behavior, however, that suggests an opportunity to expand Windows stand-alone sales to other segments of the consumer market.” Said Brad Brooks Corporate Vice President, Windows Consumer Product Marketing.

Google Gives San Fransisco Homeless Voicemails

If you have ever been to San Fransisco, one of the first things you will probably notice is the amount of homeless men and women on the street. San Fransisco has a pretty good program that basically feeds the homeless and gives them various necessities, that helps makes their lives easier, and it seems Google wants to help out.

Starting today Google has begun giving free voicemail numbers to the homeless in the San Fransisco area, the numbers are linked to the Google Grancentral service. The free voicemail offer is a joint venture between Google and Project Homeless Connect.

Review: Toshiba gigabeat T400 Portable Media Player

When I was first introduced to the T400 in August 2007, I fell in love with this sleek looking, Windows CE embedded powered device. I personally couldn’t wait to get my hands on one to review.

About a month and a half went by before I actually got my hands on one. I finally got it because Toshiba was kind enough to send us one to test out. I was so excited the day it was scheduled to arrive that I did not wait for FedEx to arrive; I went out looking for the FedEx guy.
