There are only a few more shopping days left this Christmas Season and if you still don’t know what to get your loveable geek for Christmas here are 10 things that may make them happy.
The first is BuckyBalls! BuckyBalls are magnetic balls that allow you to create different shapes and just entertain yourself while your board at your desk. All my Geek Friends want a set and some even want the entire set (four different color sets black, silver, gold and plain metaltic). Buckyballs start at $29.95 but you can use coupon code “HardwareGeek” for 15% off over at http://www.getbuckyballs.com. You can find buckyballs in stores at Hallmark.
Next on the list are two items, the Netgear WNDR3700 and the WN2000RPT. The WNDR3700 is probably the best wireless N routers on the market. It has a super easy set up and have wireless network up in running within minutes. It provides a rock solid connection to all devices connected wirelessly to it. I personally use one and have yet to have an issue. Can’t say the same about my Linksys and DLink routers. The WN2000RPT is an extender. So if you get the WNDR3700 or have any other wireless router and you have a dead spot (area with no signal) the WN2000RPT will connect to your wireless router and fill in the dead spot. It’s also easy to use and delivers a quality signal. Both are a must have if your geek wants to improve or set up a wireless network. For more information on both visit http://www.netgear.com. Both products are available at major electronic stores. By the way this counts as two and three on the list.
Next on the list is the Samsung SyncMaster BX2231 LED 21.5” monitor. Every geek or geekette needs a quality monitor on their desk and the BX2231 LED is just that. It offers a gorgeous display that offers full HD Resolution. It is LED Backlit which means it also saves on energy and gives a more even colored picture. For more information on the BX2231 visit http://www.samsung.com and to get your hands on one check your local Best Buy.
For our 5th item on our last minute gift idea list, we have to mention the gift card. Nothing like giving your geek an American express Gift card so he or she can buy anything they want. But keep in mind gift cards are the easy way out!
Our next item is the Sony Bloggie Touch. The Sony Bloggie Touch is a fantastic hand held camcorder similar to the Flip but in my opinion 10 times better. Why? Because you can do both video and still photos and it has a large touchscreen on it and is dinner and sleeker than any Flip on the market. Sony may be the new comer to the hand held camcorder market but they definitely have the best one available. The Sony Bloggie Touch is available at Best Buy.
If your geek has more than one cell phone then I must recommend for them the Motorola Infiniti Bluetooth headset. I love mines and use it all the time. I am able to easily connect two phones to it at one time and regardless of which one rings it lets me knows and allows me to verbally answer or ignore the call. It in my opinion is the easiest to use and best Bluetooth headset on the market.
Next on the list is a Phone upgrade. If your loveable geek is due for a cell phone upgrade, get it for them. While the iPhone 4 is not my favorite phone on the market it is still popular among many geeks. There are also window phones and android phones that are available as well. I would recommend a windows phone but that is just me. Just visit any of the major carriers for the deals they have. But a Geek isn’t a geek unless he or she has a smart phone!
Number 9 on the list is a tablet. Be it the iPad or Galaxy Tab or the one from Blackberry. Tablets are the new hot thing that offer an all in one solution. It allows you to check email, read books browse the web and keep track of your calendar. Tablets are available from cell phone providers, best buy and apple stores. They tend to be pricey but can you put a price on the love you have for your geek?
The 10th on the list was the 10th item on our holiday gift guide. The Xbox 360 Kinect. I don’t care if your geek is 10 or 50 he or she will love the Kinect and so will the entire family. GET ONE!!!
